"THIS IS A WAY TO GET SOME STRAIGHT SKINNY" - Sen. Mike Gravel

About

The Weekly Filibuster first premiered January 12, 2008 at 11pm with founders Ben Goodman and Tom Dec as well as panelist Matt Cavedon. Panelists Robert Burack and Robert “Bob” Bowen of Michigan quickly joined the WF Team, and now regularly contribute on each broadcast. The show brings politicos to the radio every Sunday and allows for listeners around the world to call in and talk about the weeks top political issues with the panelists and special guests.

The show blog debuted shortly after our first broadcast and features all of the contributors of the Weekly Filibuster as contributing editors. The blog gives listeners the opportunity to read the panel’s insight and analysis, stay informed about developments in the political world, and have an opportunity to weigh in on the wide range of topics we discuss – seven days a week.

Contributors

Ben Goodman (ME), Moderator
The University of Maine

Ben Goodman is a rising sophomore at the University of Maine. He previously served as Communications Director for Maine Students for Barack Obama, and lead high school operations for the campaign in the Northeast. He served as a Barack Obama delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver, and serves on the Maine Democratic State Committee and the party’s Executive Committee.*  He’s about as hardcore, partisan Democrat as they come — but he’s impartial as Moderator of the Filibuster.

Thomas Dec (D-CT)
The University of Connecticut-Stamford

Thomas Dec will be entering his freshman year at UConn-Stamford in the fall (before transferring to Cornell his sophomore year), where he will be on staff with Democrat David Martin’s campaign for mayor. Dec recently finished running the Obama campaign’s high school outreach program in Connecticut, previously assisting in the New Hampshire primary. In his spare time, Dec enjoys Capella singing (a hobby which landed him a National School Choral Award).

Matt Cavedon (R-CT)
Harvard University

Matt Cavedon is a rising junior at Harvard University majoring in Religion (specifically comparative Christianity and Hinduism) and minoring in Government. He is currently an opinion journalist for UWire, and interns with the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty. He had previously served as an intern for Senator Joseph Lieberman (ID-CT) in Hartford, and is the former YMCA Youth Governor of Connecticut. Matt leans to the libertarian, non-interventionist side of the right-wing and is a devout Catholic.

Robert Burack (D-MI)
The University of Michigan-Flint

Robert Burack will be entering his freshman year at UM-Flint in the fall. He recently finished running the Obama campaign’s high school outreach program in both Michigan and the Midwest, previously assisting in the Iowa and Ohio GOTV campaigns. He also worked as the Administrative Assistant on Democrat Andrew Concannon’s congressional campaign (MI-04), and worked heavily with the Shiawassee County Coordinated Democratic Campaign in the last election.
